GREETINGS! This year marks a significant milestone for our School of Engineering and Computer Science as we celebrate its 30th anniversary — three decades of excellence, innovation and impact. We are grateful to those whose dedication laid the foundation, built upon it and advanced the school’s mission throughout these years. As we celebrate the progress we have made over the past three decades, we also look ahead with bold ambition to expand our academic programs, grow our research capacity and increase the size of our school to shape the next era of innovation and transformation.

Our commitment to student success, research that impacts the world, and engagement with communities near and far through scholarship and service are illustrated in our new strategic plan and remains strong. From the rapid growth of our graduate programs to the pioneering work associated with the growth in emerging technologies, our faculty and students continue to push the boundaries of possibilities.

In this issue of Engineering and Computer Science Magazine, we are proud to share stories that express our gratitude for those who came before us and highlight the forward-thinking, purpose-driven spirit that defines our school — featuring cutting-edge research in materials testing, genetics and biomedical devices; our inaugural ECS Alumni and Friends Awards honorees; new academic programs; and the inspiring service of a student group that embodies the heart of Christ. These stories not only showcase what we have accomplished but also illustrate what we are building for the future.

Thank you for being part of our journey. With God’s blessings upon our school, we will continue to thrive. Here’s to the next 30 years and beyond!

Gratefully,

Daniel Pack, Ph.D.
